Aviation Carbon 2017 - Just 4 weeks to go!
07/11/2017
Our Aviation Carbon 2017 conference is now just four weeks away. We urge you to register for this important international event without delay. If your organization is a member of one of our Partner associations, you will be entitled to a further discount. Aviation Carbon 2017 is being held at the London Heathrow Marriott on Monday and Tuesday, December 4 and 5. It is co-organised by GreenAir Online, Green Aviation Solutions and Verifavia. The conference will look in detail at the latest developments on the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) that was agreed by Member States of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) at their Assembly a year ago. Since then, work has continued within ICAO on developing regulations that will underpin the scheme. While CORSIA does not full take effect until the end of 2020, all aircraft operators conducting international flights will need to start preparing from next year. They will also need to understand how the carbon markets operate and what carbon offsets will be eligible under the scheme. CORSIA will therefore have major implications for airlines and business jet operators worldwide, as well as for the carbon markets. Together with investors, legal and financial institutions, aircraft leasing companies, academics, aviation biofuel stakeholders, industry consultants and government and regulatory authorities, all will need to attend this conference to understand the complexities and challenges ahead. Aviation Carbon 2017 will bring aircraft operators together with carbon market professionals and other stakeholders to discuss and inform on what is the first global market-based climate measure for any industrial sector. The conference will also look at the implications for other national and regional climate schemes such as the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) and the role of sustainable alternative fuels in achieving the aviation industry's carbon targets. In line with the aviation industry's “Countdown to CORSIA” campaign to help ensure airlines are aware of their obligations under the scheme, the major airline and business aviation associations around the world are lending their support to Aviation Carbon 2017. Each will be speaking at the event on behalf of their members. We are pleased to announce one of the industry's biggest names, Willie Walsh, Chief Executive of International Airlines Group, as Keynote Speaker. Details of the conference can be found at www.aviationcarbon.aero or contact us at info@aviationcarbon.aero.
