Verifavia Shipping certifies StormGeo as an EU MRV supplier

        

StormGeo's shipping division (formerly AWT) has been certified as an EU MRV supplier by Verifavia Shipping. StormGeo's Fleet Performance solution, FleetDSS MRV, incorporates a service level that was created in response to the European Union’s EU MRV regulation. FleetDSS MRV provides a tool to help create monitoring plans, view leg-by-leg voyage reports, and annual emissions reports.

StormGeo has been collecting data, monitoring data and reporting data on fuel consumption and emissions for over twenty years. In 2016, more than 60,000 voyages utilised StormGeo's existing methods of collecting and reporting data. Ocean shipping required to verify and report emissions from 2018

   

With pollution avoidance high on everyone's agenda all the major shipping group's have been keen to implement systems to monitor the emissions emanating from ocean freight carriers of all types. Whilst some choose to calculate the noxious matter produced by their own fleets, others turn to specialists which report back with the relevant key performance indicators and, in the case of ports in the EU, reporting verified emissions from large vessels will be mandatory from next year.

The shipping industry names signed up with Verifavia which include such luminaries as NORDEN, DFDS, Fairmont Shipping, E R Schiffahrt and China Navigation, global ICT providers, such as StormGeo, are entrusting Verifavia to certify their EU MRV ICT solutions, which seek to streamline the data collection and reporting process for shipping companies needing to comply with the EU MRV Regulation. The company is currently working with circa 60 shipping companies and has certified EU MRV solutions and systems for 16 ICT providers. [...]

 

Verifavia Shipping presents at 2017 EMTECH Ship Emissions Technology Conference 

   

Yuvraj Thakur, EU MRV Auditor & Commercial Head Asia-Pacific, Verifavia Shipping, presented and a led a workshop at the recent EMTECH Ship Emissions Technology Conference, held in Singapore. The conference is part of the biennial Bunkering Week, and brings together 300+ industry leaders and 60+ renowned speakers from various industry sectors, to discuss emerging ship emissions technology for all aspects of emissions control.

As part of his presentation and workshop, Yuvraj spoke to circa 50 delegates about complying with the EU’s monitoring, reporting, and verification (EU MRV) regulation. The aim of the presentation and subsequent workshop session was to provide delegates with a good overview of the regulation, as well as an understanding of how to achieve compliance quickly, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
