Verifavia Shipping becomes the first Global EU MRV Verifier to Earn Dual Accreditation

Verifavia, the world’s leading emissions verification company for the transport sector (aviation and shipping), recently announced that it has received a second accreditation by France's accreditation body COFRAC as a global EU monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) verifier. This makes Verifavia the first globally accredited verifier to receive dual accreditation under ISO 14065 standard and regulation 757/2015.

This new accreditation by COFRAC follows Verifavia’s recent announcement that it received full EU MRV accreditation from the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), enabling the company to assess or verify any ship anywhere in the world, regardless of country of ownership, flag state, or class.

Verifavia Shipping to address Swedish shipowners in Göteborg, Sweden

The Swedish Shipowners Association is inviting Swedish shipping companies to participate in an EU MRV Seminar to be held in Göteborg on Thursday 11th May, 2017 between 08:30 AM and 16:00 PM.

Julien Dufour, CEO, Verifavia Shipping will address Swedish shipping companies on the EU MRV regulation, with a particular focus on the deadlines, the requirements, and the challenges of the legislation. Given that the first legal deadline for compliance is just four months away, Julien will also focus on distilling the requirments of the Monitoring Plan - to ensure efficient compliance. The seminar will also be an opportunity to ask any technical questions about the interpretation and implementation of the EU MRV.

Verifavia Shipping in the latest issue of Bunkerspot

Our CEO Julien Dufour spoke with Bunkerspot earlier this month to discuss the EU MRV Regulation, and the upcoming legal deadline. In August, ship operators will have to submit their monitoring plans in relation to the EUs regulation on the monitoring, reporting and verification of vessel fuel consumption data. Julien Dufour explains in the April/May issue that while the task facing owners and accredited verifiers is considerable, it is not insurmountable.

Given that more than 3,000 companies and over 12,000 ships will be affected by the implementation of the EU MRV Regulation, it makes sense to start now on the road to compliance – to avoid the possible bottleneck that might ensue. Moreover, ship owners and operators choosing to act now will be in a better position to identify any possible gaps and ensure timely correction.

Verifavia Shipping discusses EU MRV implementation with Tanker Shipping & Trade

In a recent article published in Tanker Shipping & Trade, Julien Dufour described the four methods outlined within the regulations relating to the calculation of CO2 emissions. In the article, Julien notes that while three of the methods keep track of fuel consumption in various ways, the fourth method, also the preferred method, would rely on continuous emission monitoring systems, "which do not yet exist,”.
