Aviation Carbon 2018 - Just two weeks to go!

22/10/2018

Aviation Carbon 2018 conference is now just two weeks away and time is running out to book to attend this important event for the aviation and carbon sectors.

Co-organised by Verifavia, Aviation Carbon 2018 is being held at the London Heathrow Marriott on Monday and Tuesday, November 5 and 6.

We are delighted this year to offer up to two free places to delegates from airlines and aircraft operators from our Partner airline and business aviation associations: A4A, A4E, AACO, AAPA, ALTA, EBAA and ERA. This offer also applies to Associate Airline members of RSB. Members of our other Partner associations (IETA, CMIA & ICSA) are also entitled to substantial delegate rate discounts. Please go to the Event Partners page on our website for your 100% discount code to use when registering online.

The draft Agenda for Aviation Carbon 2018 is now available online here.

The conference will look in detail at the latest developments on the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA). While CORSIA does not take full effect until the end of 2020, all aircraft operators conducting international flights will need to start complying with the SARP regulations recently adopted by ICAO. From this coming January they will have to monitor their CO2 emissions so that ICAO can establish the all-important baseline for the scheme. They will also need to understand how decisions on alternative aviation fuels and the eligibility criteria for emission units will affect them.

CORSIA will have major implications for airlines and business jet operators worldwide, as well as for the carbon markets. Together with investors, legal and financial institutions, aircraft leasing companies, academics, aviation biofuel companies, industry consultants and government and regulatory authorities, all will need to attend this conference to understand the complexities and challenges ahead.

Aviation Carbon 2018 will bring aircraft operators together with carbon market professionals and other stakeholders to discuss and inform on this unique global market-based climate measure. The conference will also look at the implications for other national and regional climate schemes such as the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS). A new innovation this year will be two concurrent workshops in the afternoon of the second day of the conference: CORSIA MRV, led by Verifavia, and CORSIA Carbon Markets & Offset Strategies, led by IETA.

In line with the aviation industry’s “Countdown to CORSIA” campaign to help ensure airlines are aware of their obligations under the scheme, the major airline and business aviation associations around the world are lending their support to Aviation Carbon 2018. Other Partners include the Air Transport Action Group (ATAG), International Emissions Trading Association (IETA), Climate Markets & Investment Association (CMIA), International Coalition for Sustainable Aviation (ICSA) and the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB). Each of our Partners urge and recommend your attendance.
