The new UK Aviation EU ETS Regulation is published

On 30 April 2014 the EU Regulation 421/2014 came into force across the EU.   It amended the original Aviation ETS Directive (2003/87/EC) and reduced the Aviation ETS to an intra-European Economic Area scope until 31 December 2016.  The Government has been implementing this in the UK Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Scheme Regulations 2012 in accordance with the EU Regulation and on 26 November 2014 the legislation was laid before Parliament before coming into force on Monday 22 December 2014.  It can be viewed here. 
 
Furthermore, on 24 November 2014, the Department of Energy and Climate Change, Department for Transport and the Devolved Administrations published the Government response to the consultation on implementation of the EU Regulation.  It is available to view here.
